'So Long, Summer' is the last of a series of three drawings depicting the same sun-seeking character. As it's forecast to snow here again imminently, what better subject to choose? :)

I've been feeling quite reflective about the past year, on the things that have gone well and the things that I could've done better.  Consequently, I've been rethinking how I'm selling my work and how I can cut down costs to make it much more affordable. I'm thinking smaller self-published art prints and other formats, and selling through Etsy and/or Folksy, as publishing small pieces through a third party printer sets overheads comparatively high before I can even think about a mark up and tax being added on top of it all. It's a learning curve, and it's worth trying things out and weighing them up if it helps you to move forward in the longer term.

The first releases for 2010 will be the Summer Series. I'm just gearing up to be ready for production and then I'll be letting them loose!

A little(ish) illustration completed this afternoon. I've found a technique I'm really enjoying; start with pencil and create an underdrawing, then lay coloured pencil over the top, setting a limited palette of colours before I start adding colour.
