Sunday, March 7, 2010 at 5:50PM I've continued to work with the accidental technique I discovered when producing my prints for the Created in Birmingham shop. To cut a long story short, I'd intended the prints to be a straight forward print onto photo paper and that was it. Unfortunately, an incident with a shard of metal and my finger inadvertantly saw the photo paper prints ruined.... at the point where I'd run out of paper. So, I pulled out some Stonehenge paper and saw whether the prints would work on it. They did. Adding final white highlighting by hand and some darkest darks where necessary produced something I was really pleased with. So I've stuck with it......

Private Commission | Sussan Zeck
Sunday, February 21, 2010 at 3:58PM Sussan Zeck is an international model who recently approached me to commission a portrait. Sussan saw my interview on Ceecee Wears Chanel and decided that she'd request a private commission by contacting me through my website. She was an absolute pleasure to work for, giving me a few ideas and allowing me the freedom to interpret them in my own style.
I ended up worked with 2 reference images of Sussan, and then brought the long, lustrous locks along to the party.

The final image is an A4 giclee print - the original piece was created in pencil and then colour was added digitally. The benefit of this for Sussan is that she receives not only the giclee but also the original drawing - two for the price of one!

Night Service
Sunday, January 3, 2010 at 3:38PM 3am in a downtown hotel. Lights dimmed. She sits alone. Or does she? Is she waiting for someone? Are they already there? Is she waiting for a telephone call? Is she waiting for her money? Or does she have an attack of the munchies and is waiting for room service to bring her a cheese toastie? You decide ;)

This was a little experiment I did last night and finished this afternoon, working the drawing up in coloured pencil and graphite and then finishing digitally to enhance warm tones. I don't usually add an environment for figures when I draw them, but wanted the added context and to have a bash at trying to replicate gold. I like the slightly seedy, retro Bond-esque result it's produced. Finished printed size is A5.
